Joe Bruno

Joe has enjoyed playing soccer since starting at the Jordan YMCA in Indianapolis at age 8, continuing with YMCA and high school teams in Rocky Mount, NC and pickup games in the Raleigh-Durham area while attending NCSU. Since relocating to Asheville, Joe has played in ABASA since 1998, primarily as a member of Asheville Wizards FC. He was a long-time captain of Wizards White in the open division, Wizards Silver in Over 40, and more recently has been co-captain of Wizzah OG in Over 50. Joe joined the ABASA board in 2026. When not playing the beautiful game, Joe works for a commercial voiceover studio, officiates youth soccer, plays the bass guitar in a garage rock band, enjoys photography, attends latin social dances, and supports Asheville’s vibrant live music scene as a fan.
